Wilson, NC - The NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) has released the 2012 All-Southeast Region Teams in conjunction with the start of the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament.

Mount Olive Claims Top Seed & Hosts NCAA II Baseball Southeast Regional for Second Straight Year
Mount Olive gained the No. 1 seed and will play host to the Southeast Regional of the 2012 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Thursday through Sunday at Scarborough Field. The Trojans take on No. 6 seed Lander in the first round Thursday at 7 p.m. Mount Olive is hosting the regional for the second consecutive year.

Mount Olive's Rogers Among Semifinalists For Tino Martinez Award
Jacob Rogers, who was this year's Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament, is among 55 semifinalists for the 2012 Tino Martinez Award, which goes to the Division II Baseball National Player of the Year. Rogers' selection marks the third time in the three-year history of the award Mount Olive has had at least one semifinalist. The Tino Martinez Award is administered by College Baseball Lineup.

Conference Rivals Clash @ Greenville's Fluor Field for 2nd Year In A Row!
The 2nd Annual Battle Between Limestone College and North Greenville University @ Fluor Field will be on Tuesday, May 1st, 2012. The two Conference Carolinas' members based in South Carolina will meet again this year after Limestone won the inagural matchup at Fluor Field last year by a score of 7-1 in front of a record 1,620 fans.

Limestone Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Preseason Poll Favorite
High Point, N.C.> Entering the program’s 25th season, the Limestone College baseball team has been voted the top team in this year’s league preseason poll as voted on by conference head coaches. Following a record-breaking 2011 campaign last year, the Saints broke the team record for most wins in a season after finishing 34-18 overall with a 14-6 conference mark and went 6-2 against the league’s nationally ranked teams during the regular season.

GAFFNEY, S.C. – Coming off the program’s most storied season, the Limestone College baseball team will begin the 2012 campaign on the national radar after receiving 10 votes in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s NCAA Division II Preseason Poll. The Saints wrapped up the 2011 season ranked 27th in the same poll while breaking the program’s record for most wins in a season with 34.

Mount Olive, which won the 2008 NCAA Division II National Championship and tied for third in last year’s National Finals, is ranked No. 5 in the 2012 Collegiate Baseball Division II Preseason Top 40 Poll, as voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association. The ranking marks the third time in four years the Trojans have been ranked in the top 10 in a preseason poll.

Mount Olive College All-America pitcher Carter Capps has signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners, it was announced by the Mariners’ front office. A third-round selection in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, Capps has been assigned to the Mariners’ Class A affiliate, the Clinton (Iowa) LumberKings of the Midwest League.

In only his second professional baseball game, Mount Olive College all-time career home run leader and St. Louis Cardinals draft selection Michael Knox belted three home runs Wednesday for the Cardinals' Gulf Coast Rookie League affiliate. With Wednesday's performance against the Marlins, Knox is the early home run leader in the Gulf Coast League.

Conference Carolinas Players Selected in MLB Draft; Three Mount Olive Players Taken Along with One Limestone Player
Conference Carolinas baseball players were chosen in the MLB Draft. Mount Olive's Carter Capps was chosen in the third round along with Limestone's Joe Maloney in the 10th round on Draft Day 2. Mount Olive's Pete Levitt (32nd round) and Michael Knox (41st round) were then selected on the final Day 3 of the draft.

Mount Olive College baseball alum Tom Layne, who earned All-America honors and was the 2007 Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year, has been promoted to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate. Layne is among 13 pitchers listed on the opening day roster for the Reno (Nev.) Aces of the Pacific Coast League. According to the Aces’ manager, Layne could see action in the Majors sometime this year.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Former Limestone baseball coach and Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry will be among six former New York and San Francisco Giants players to throw out the first pitch of the 2010 World Series between the Giants and the Texas Rangers. CARY, N.C. – Eight teams will vie for a national championship as the 2010 NCAA Division II Baseball National Finals gets underway Saturday at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. The double-elimination tournament runs through the following Saturday, May 29 and the championship game will be nationally televised live on CBS College Sports. Mount Olive College will partner with Town of Cary as hosts for this year’s National Finals. Mount Olive College and Town of Cary co-hosted the 2009 National Finals and will also host the 2011 National Finals.

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee has selected the 48 teams that will participate in the 2010 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship. The championship provides for eight regional sites - six sites will host six teams, the West region will host four teams and the South region will host eight teams. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played at on-campus sites May 13-17.

Mount Olive Claims 2010 Conference Baseball Title! All-Tournament Teams Announced!
WILSON, N.C.—Mount Olive College claimed its fourth baseball title in the past five years on Sunday at historic Fleming Stadium, winning the 2010 Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament with a 7-2 victory over Pfeiffer University. The Trojans came into the tournament as regular season champions and No. 1 seed, only to lose in the first round to No. 6 seed Anderson. However, Mount Olive fought its way back through the loser’s bracket with four straight wins, capped by a sweep of Pfeiffer on Sunday.

The Belmont Abbey baseball team culminated its Cinderella run through the NCAA Southeast Regional Title with an 11-5 win over the top-seeded USC Aiken Pacers this afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium in Aiken, South Carolina. The Abbey clinches the first appearance in the NCAA Division II College World Series in school history. The sixth-seeded Crusaders defeated the top three seeds in the region, including two presently ranked in the top ten national rankings.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee has selected the 48 teams that will participate in the 2009 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship. The championship provides for eight regional sites - six sites will host six teams, the West region will host four teams and the South region will host eight teams. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played at on-campus sites May 14-18. Regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 23-30 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The finals will be hosted by Mount Olive College and the town of Cary, North Carolina.

Jesse Lancaster was named to the first team and Airlon Vinson earned second team honors as Mount Olive placed two players on the 2009 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 Baseball College Division Team. Lancaster, an Academic All-District second team selection last year, is now eligible for All-America consideration.

The North Carolina House of Representatives and State Senate have proposed a joint resolution honoring the Mount Olive College baseball team for winning the 2008 NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship. Mount Olive Defeats Belmont Abbey in Elimination Game To Take Tournament Baseball Championship; All-Tournament Teams Announced
Tournament Most Valuable Player Alex Vertcnik from Mount Olive hit a game-tying three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth and Erik Lovett capped a 5-for-5 performance with a tie-breaking three-run homer in the eighth as nationally top-ranked and No. 1 seed Mount Olive rallied from five runs down to defeat No. 3 seed Belmont Abbey 13-9 in the championship game of the 2008 Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament Sunday at Wilson, N.C. Belmont Abbey forced a winner-takes-all game with a 10-inning 3-2 victory over the Trojans in Sunday's first game. The Trojans win their third consecutive conference title and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA II South Atlantic Regional for the third year in a row.

Thomasville, N.C. > The Conference Carolinas All-Conference baseball teams were determined by vote from each Head Coach of participating institutions. Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and All-Conference Second Team. Awards will be presented at the Conference Tournament Championships hosted by Barton College in Wilson, NC at this weekend’s conference championship.

ESPN TV Show "NCAA On Campus" Coming To Mount Olive!
“NCAA On Campus,” which airs on ESPN Classic and ESPNU, is coming to Mount Olive College Wednesday, April 23. The show plans to run a segment on the Trojan baseball team, which has been ranked No. 1 in the nation in six of the last seven weeks. Along with including interviews with members of the baseball team and taping highlights of the Trojans’ baseball doubleheader that day against Chowan, the show will also feature interviews with student-athletes from other sports, as well as spotlight the Mount Olive College campus.

MOUNT OLIVE HEAD BASEBALL COACH CARL LANCASTER SURPASSES 700-WIN MARK
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Barely two years after recording his 600th career win, Mount Olive head baseball coach Carl Lancaster surpassed the 700-win mark during this past weekend’s Conference Carolinas series at Limestone. Lancaster entered the series with 698 career wins and recorded wins 699 and 700 Friday after the Trojans swept a doubleheader. Mount Olive took the final game Saturday 16-5 to sweep the series and give Lancaster win No. 701. He has a career record of 701-350 for a .667 winning percentage.

SAPC baseball moves Erskine series to Due West, S.C.
LAURINBURG, N.C. (02/11/08)—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College baseball team has moved its three-game Conference Carolinas series against Erskine College scheduled for Friday & Saturday, February 15-16 to Due West, South Carolina in order to complete renovations to Clark Field. The Knights will be the home team (bat in the home half of each inning) for Friday’s series-opener at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday’s doubleheader starting at Noon even though they will be playing at the Flying Fleets Grier Field.

GAFFNEY, S.C.—The Limestone College baseball team will open its 20th season on Saturday at Bob Prevatte Field against Lynchburg College at 1 p.m. There will be a ceremony before Saturday’s game to recognize the founding members of Limestone’s baseball program at 12:45 p.m. The Saints baseball program first took to the field in 1988.

Mount Olive earned its first top 10 national ranking in seven years, jumping two spots to No. 10 in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Division II Top 30 Poll, it was announced Monday. The Trojans, which were ranked as high as No. 3 during the 1999 season, last cracked the top 10 in 2000.

Regional takes place Thursday-Sunday at Grainger Stadium in Kinston Mount Olive has earned the No. 1 seed and will play host to the South Atlantic Regional of the 2007 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, it was announced late Sunday night. The six-team double-elimination regional will take place Thursday through Sunday at Grainger Stadium in Kinston. The nationally 10th-ranked Trojans open play Thursday against No. 6 seed Virginia State. Grainger Stadium is the home field for the Kinston Indians, Single A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.

Limestone's Craig Gets Back to Baseball After Tour of Duty
From the war-torn country, Matt Craig sent a picture of Iraqi citizens holding up a sign that read: "We love Saints baseball." It was a way for Craig to let his Limestone College teammates know that they were in his thoughts. Craig, a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, served in Iraq following his outstanding junior season on the diamond. For a year, he moved all over the country, rebuilding Army infrastructures that had been blown apart and were in constant danger of being blown apart again.
