Student-athletes will be enriched by a collegiate athletics experience based on fair, safe and reasonable standards, a commitment to sportsmanship and participation on campus and conference Student Athlete Advisory Committees
Objectives
- 1.1 Sportsmanship
Assess the expectations of members and facilitate programs and initiatives to support those expectations
Primary responsibility: CONFERENCE CAROLINAS office, Task force on Sportsmanship
Implementation responsibility: Member institutions
- 1.2 Competition
Assess the balanced academic and athletic expectations of members and administer congruent regular season and championship competition and administer memorable season ending tournaments
Primary responsibility: CONFERENCE CAROLINAS office, Athletics Directors, Faculty Athletics Representatives
- 1.3 Awards
Promote the recognition of student athletes' academic and athletic accomplishments
Offer awards that recipients will display with pride
Work with member institutions to increase awareness of NCAA academic awards and post-graduate scholarship opportunities
Primary responsibility: CONFERENCE CAROLINAS Office, Awards Committee, SAAC conference liaison
Secondary responsibility: Member sports information offices, Ads, FARs, SWAs, member SAACs
- 1.4 Conference Leadership Participation
Support SAAC activities that enhance participation in the governance of the conference and promote involvement in planning the Division II experience

Oversee distribution of NCAA enhancement grants

The public and member constituencies will gain a greater understanding of the educational value of the athletics programs and accomplishments of teams and individual athletes

Facilitate member & media knowledge of player and team accomplishments

Maintain www.cvac.net and other electronic opportunities as the world's doorway to the conference

The public equates the quality of visible events with the profile of member institutions

- 3.1 Regular Season Play
Prepare conference schedules where mandated
Oversee conference officiating
Visit each member institution at least once every three years

- 3.2 CONFERENCE CAROLINAS Tourneys
Bid, organize and manage conference tournaments of quality similar to NCAA regional tournaments
Primary responsibility: CONFERENCE CAROLINAS office and athletics directors

- 3.3 CONFERENCE CAROLINAS Awards
Appropriately recognize member student-athletes and outstanding teams

The confidence of all stakeholders is based on common standards of all members
Objectives
- 4.1 CONFERENCE CAROLINAS Rules Compliance
Receive conference mandated reports and confirm compliance
Annually review the CONFERENCE CAROLINAS constitution and by-laws for agreement with current NCAA legislation
Primary responsibility: CONFERENCE CAROLINAS office, member compliance coordinators
Secondary responsibility: athletics directors
- 4.2 NCAA Rules Compliance
Assist member compliance officer's research and follow NCAA rules
Provide opportunities for NCAA rules education
Insure member knowledge of proposed legislation
Encourage the implementation and continued use of Compliance Assistant at all member institutions

Secondary responsibility: athletics directors, faculty athletics representatives, senior woman administrators, compliance officers
- 4.3 Member Educational Opportunity
Publicize regional and national rules seminar opportunities
Plan and host conference rules education seminars for member institutions

Comply with Coaches Certification and NLI requirements

•V. Goal: Informed Governance and Decision-Making
Member institutions and individual representatives will actively engage in determining the direction and activities of the conference

Plan and prepare for the three scheduled Conference meetings

- 5.2 Conference Committee Structure
Oversee the administration of AD, SWA, SAAC CAP, ad hoc and coach's committee meetings

- 5.3 Executive Committee
Assist this committee in the obligation to make decisions necessary between official meetings

•VI. Goal: Active National Participation
Participation in conventions, committees, professional organizations and regional committees is essential to optimally serve student-athletes and member institutions
Objectives
- 6.1 Attend the annual convention and various meetings with NCAA informational components
Primary responsibility: CONFERENCE CAROLINAS office, nominated conference representatives, president's designees
- 6.2 National Committee Appointments
Identify and nominate member representatives to NCAA national committees
Appoint CONFERENCE CAROLINAS representatives to each regional sport committee
Primary responsibility: CONFERENCE CAROLINAS commissioner
- 6.3 Collegiate Commissioners Association Involvement
Attend three annual CCA meetings
Advocate CONFERENCE CAROLINAS initiatives

- 6.4 Promote conference representation at NCAA sponsored national conferences
Provide information about and oversee the administration of conference funds budgeted for conference representative travel reimbursement

•VII. Goal: Effective CONFERENCE CAROLINASOffice Administration
The CONFERENCE CAROLINAS office will be operated in an accountable, effective and efficient manner
Objectives
- 7.1 Budgeting
Prepare a balanced budget reflecting the priorities of CONFERENCE CAROLINAS

- 7.2 Accounting
Monitor and complete income and expense functions within the CONFERENCE CAROLINAS budget

7.3 Performance Evaluation
The Conference Commissioner shall be evaluated annually with regard to overall performance and a determination made as to the degree to which the Commissioner is leading the Conference in meeting its Strategic Goals.
