To: CVAC Coaches
For: Preseason information
A policy to prevent the ejection of CVAC coaches is now in place for all officiated conference sports. Conference members believe that coaches’ presence on the field or court is necessary to insure control of the game and of players.
CVAC policy is that each coach having an ejection (conference or non-conference) will be written a letter by his/her athletic director. The letter will stress the seriousness of being ejected and copies will be sent to the school’s President and Faculty Athletics Representative and the conference commissioner. When an ejection occurs, we all want to work cooperatively to prevent further similar occurrences.
Additional ejections are not expected and would be dealt with more severely. A second ejection during an academic year would, minimally, incur a one game suspension while a third would result in a two game suspension. In every case all relevant personnel would be notified.
Further, to promote good sportsmanship and actions of all representatives in conference contests and prevent reoccurring misconduct, CVAC coaches of an ejected player are required to notify their athletic director, in writing, within two days of the player’s ejection. The member school will then inform the CVAC office to assure full communication.
I do not perceive that our conference has had a problem in this area. We want to be certain your standard of professionalism continues. I would encourage each coach to embrace this as a preventative measure to insure the future retains the high standards you have worked hard to attain.
Good luck during the season and be sure to enjoy it in person.
