Williams Promoted to Assistant Commissioner for External Operations

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Conference Carolinas Commissioner Alan Patterson announced today that Sharod Williams has been promoted to the position of Assistant Commissioner for External Operations.

“Sharod has been a major asset to Conference Carolinas over the last two years,” said Patterson. “He has worn many hats behind the scenes and performed each task with passion. In his new role, I have no doubt that he will flourish and continue to help us better tell the proud story of Conference Carolinas.”

Williams will continue the delivery and oversight of his responsibilities as the Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications, which includes the oversight of the Faculty Athletic Representative and Sports Information Director groups.

In his new role, Williams will work closely with the Conference's newly formed Branding Committee and its sub-committees to better market and brand the conference. He will also serve as supervisor of the Conference Carolinas Internship Program, collaborate with the conference's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and oversee select Conference Carolinas Championships.

“I am beyond humbled and grateful for this new opportunity at Conference Carolinas,” said Williams. “The last two years have been amazing working in communications, but I think this new role will give me a chance to grow into a more well-rounded administrator. I look forward to working more with every entity in Conference Carolinas and making us one of the premier leagues in Division II.”

Currently, Williams serves on the NCAA Division II Coaching Enhancement Grant Selection Committee, Division II Women's Lacrosse South Regional Advisory Committee, and is the Southeast Region Coordinator for the D2CCA women's basketball all-region team. He also served as a facilitator at the 2016 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in Baltimore, Md.

A former All-Conference Carolinas basketball player, Williams was a four-year letter winner and three-year captain of the Coker men’s basketball team. He was named to the the All-Time Coker men's basketball team in December 2016.

A native of Miami, Fla., Williams is a 2013 graduate of Coker College with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education with a concentration in sport communication. He also holds a Master of Science in Collegiate Athletic Administration from Coker College.


Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
