CLEVELAND, OHIO – A total of 517 student-athletes from six member institutions represented Conference Carolinas as 2017-18 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award winners, it was announced Thursday (Aug. 16) by the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA).
A total of 162 institutions and 10,116 student-athletes were recognized as 2017-18 Academic Achievement Award winners.
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution must be a current dues paying member of the D2 ADA. Also, the student-athlete must: have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale; have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work; and have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
Limestone College led the nation and Conference Carolinas with 189 recipients. King University posted the second best total in the conference with 87 award winners, while University of Mount Olive managed 78 award recipients. Belmont Abbey College notched 64 honorees, with Lees-McRae College not far behind with 56. Closing out the award winners was Barton College with 43 selections.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University.
