Barton's Russell Named Week 6 Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week


HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College's Larry Russell has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held April 16 - 22.

Russell, a junior from Sicklerville, N.J., leapt his way to the eighth-best long jump mark in Division II so far this season at the VSU Trojan Invite.  Russell's mark of 7.44 meters (24'5") was good for the win and a provisional qualifying mark, as well as leading both the conference and region.  Russell also notched two other top-5 finishes at the meet, recording a new personal best mark of 15.26 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles and a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (14.16 meters, 46'5.5").     


North Greenville's McGee Named Week 5 Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

   

HIGH POINT, N.C.North Greenville University's Adrian McGee has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held April 9 - 15.

A freshman from Greer, S.C., McGee had a breakout meet in the long jump at the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic this past weekend.  His winning mark of 7.29 meters (23' 11") was a personal best by a foot, and provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in May.  That mark is currently tied for 15th on the Division II descending order list and leads the conference by 7 inches.   


Mount Olive's Teeple Named Week 4 Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

  

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive’s Zach Teeple has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held April 2 - 8.

A freshman for the Trojans, Teeple won the University section of the javelin throw at the Colonial Relays this past weekend with a new collegiate personal best.  His throw of 54.09 meters moved him into second both on the current Conference Carolinas performance list and in the University of Mount Olive record book.  That mark is currently third in the Southeast Region.

Barton's Clemons Named Week 2 Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

 

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College’s Micah Clemons has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held March 19 - 25.

Clemons, a sophomore from Greenville, N.C., earned Athlete of the Week honors for the second consecutive week after he bettered his school record in the hammer throw once again, improving his NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event to 55.84 meters (183' 2.25") on the way to first place at the Trojan Challenge.  That mark leads both the conference and region by over 5 meters and is the 15th best in Division II thus far.  In addition, Clemons racked up another win in the javelin throw with a new personal best mark of 43.48 meters (142' 8") and took fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 43.37 meters (142' 3").


Barton's Clemons Named Week 1 Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

 

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College’s Micah Clemons has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held March 12 - 18.

Clemons, a sophomore from Greenville, N.C., placed himself on the Division II qualifying list in his first outdoor meet of the season.  His mark of 55.03 meters (180' 6") in the hammer throw at the 49er Classic was a personal best and school-record by 5 meters and was good for second place at the meet, behind only a Division I competitor.  His provisional qualifying mark is currently the 11th-best in Division II and leads both the conference and the Southeast Region.
