Limestone's Gadsden Named Week 6 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College's Skyler Gadsden has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held April 16 - 22.

A freshman for the Saints, Gadsden recorded two new collegiate personal bests at the USC Open this past weekend, placing in the top-5 in both events.  Her fourth-place mark of 12.23 meters (40'1.5") in the shotput is a new school record and solidifies her as the conference leader in that event.  Gadsen also claimed fifth place in the discus throw after recording a throw of 37.55 meters (123'2"), a nearly three-foot improvement over her previous best mark.  That mark is currently the fourth-best in the conference.   


North Greenville's Wilder Named Week 5 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of North Greenville's Shekinah Wilder has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held April 9 - 15.

Wilder, a junior from Aiken, S.C., surpassed the 12 meter mark in the triple jump once again at the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic.  Her leap of 12.04 meters (39' 6"), good for fourth place in a strong field, was a provisional qualifying mark that places her 8th on the Division II descending order list.  She now sits atop both the conference and region standings in that event. 


Southern Wesleyan's Peterson Named Week 4 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan University's Paige Peterson has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held April 2 - 8.

Peterson, a freshman from Simpsonville, S.C., set a new school record in the high jump this past weekend at the Susan Rouse Invitational.  Her leap of 1.68 meters (5'6") was 8 centimeters higher than any mark she has put up so far this season.  Besides winning the meet, Peterson's mark was also a provisional qualifying mark that is currently tied for 14th on the DII descending order list.  She now leads the conference in that event.

Mount Olive's Beckford Named Week 2 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Brittany Beckford has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held March 19 - 25.

Beckford, a freshman for the Trojans, added to the record count at the Trojan Challenge.  Her new collegiate personal best high jump mark of 1.63 meters (5' 4.25") broke both the school and facility records in that event.  That jump is currently the highest in the conference by 4 inches and the third-best mark in the region.  In addition, Beckford posted two other top-5 finishes at the meet, recording a third place finish in the 400 meter dash with a personal best 58.81 seconds, which is currently third in the conference standings, as well as a 5th place finish in the 200 meter dash.  


Mount Olive's Lockett Named Week 1 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Candise Lockett has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held March 12 - 18.

A freshman from the United Kingdom, Lockett earned the first provisional qualifying mark of her career this past weekend at the Braves Track Classic.  Her event-winning mark of 51.70 meters (169'7") in the hammer throw set a new school record and is currently the eighth-best throw in Division II, as well as leading the conference and region. 


OUTDOOR SEASON


 

High Point, N.C. – Converse College’s Ashly Sutherland has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Player of the Week during week three of the 2014 - 2015 Indoor Track & Field season. Sutherland posted a Conference Carolinas best 800m time at the Winston-Salem State Open running the event in 2:17.07 missing the NCAA DII Provisional time by just over a second. The Cowpens, S.C. native leads the Conference Carolinas in the mile event running a school record 5:09.80 finishing fifth overall at the Bob Pollock Invitational against a majority DI field. Sutherland is ranked 15th among DII athletes in the 800m and 37th overall in the mile.
