Barton's Spence Named Week 6 Men's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College's Colton Spence has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Nov. 5-11, the Conference announced today.

Spence, a freshman from New Hill, N.C., collected three first-place finishes and led Barton to a pair of victories in its tri-meet with Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon.

Spence won the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyles with times of 54.86 and 1:57.97, respectively. He would also pace his squad to a first-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.53.


King's Vik Named Week 5 Men's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.King University's Simen Vik has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 29 - Nov. 4, the Conference announced today.

A freshman from Sandnes, Norway, Vik notched four top-three finishes and broke one school record as King went 1-1 in its tri-meet with Mars Hill and Warren Wilson.

Vik won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.89, which was .20 off the King record. Vik finished second in the 500-yard freestyle, but set a school record in the event with a time of 4:56.56. Vik would also finish second in the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay with times of 1:46.33 and 3:38.81, respectively.


Emmanuel's Rosa Named Week 4 Men's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Emmanuel College's Thiago Rosa has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 15-21, the Conference announced today. This marks his first POTW award and the third for Emmanuel this season.

Rosa, a sophomore from Ipatinga, Brazil, broke five meet records en route to leading the Lions to a win at the 18th Annual Sewanee Invite. He placed first in each of the five individual events he raced in, while also collecting four relay victories with teammates.

Emmanuel's Mendes Named Week 3 Men's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Emmanuel College's Rafael Mendes has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 15-21, the Conference announced today. This marks his first POTW award and the second for Emmanuel this season.

A senior from Londrina, Brazil, Mendes collected four five first-place victories and helped the Lions improve to 5-0 in dual meets this season.

Against Berry, Mendes would win the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.97, while also winning the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.49. He would then lead the Lions to a pair of wins in the 200-yard medley relay (1:36.54) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.75). 


Barton's York Named Week 2 Men's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College's Jonathan York has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 8-14, the Conference announced today. 

York, a freshman from Midlothian, Va., posted five first-place victories and one second-place finish and led the Bulldogs to a 2-1 record to open the season.

Against Catholic University of America, York would win two individual events in the 500-yard freestyle (4:51.14) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:00.27), while also leading Barton to a win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:39.06).

In a dual-meet with Howard and VMI, York would win the 1000-yard freestyle (9:59.35) and 200-yard butterfly (1:57.89), while taking second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:55.48).


Emmanuel's Raczynski Named Week 1 Men's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Emmanuel College's Stanislas Raczynski has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 1-7, the Conference announced today. 

A senior from Leudon-en-Brie, France, Raczynski posted three first-place finishes and helped the Lions move to 4-0 by defeating Life, Point, Lagrange and Bethel in dual meet action. In the 500 freestyle, Raczynski would take first with a time of 4:40.53, while also winning the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:38.32. In the 200 freestyle relay, Raczynski and company would place first with a time of 1:28.94.
