North Greenville's Wilder Named Week 5 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's Shekinah Wilder has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held April 9 - 15, the Conference announced today.

North Greenville's senior from Aiken, S.C., Shekinah Wilder, the earned Athlete of the Week honors for the second consecutive week for demonstrating consistent, strong performances in the triple jump. Wilder finished third at the Gamecock Invitational this weekend with a season's best leap of 12.06m (39' 7") surpassing the NCAA provisional qualifying mark and inching closer to the NCAA Automatic qualifying standard. Wilder is a fierce competitor, holding top marks in the conference in both the triple jump and long jump for this outdoor season.

HIGH POINT, N.C.North Greenville University's Shekinah Wilder has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held April 2 - 8, the Conference announced today.

North Greenville's senior from Aiken, S.C., Shekinah Wilder, also shared impressive accomplishments in her field performance this weekend at the Susan Rouse Invitational in Central, S.C. Wilder hit a new lifetime best mark in the long jump with a leap of 5.63m (18' 5.75") to finish first in the event and set a new program record for the Crusaders.


Mount Olive's Lockett Named Week 3 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. University of Mount Olive's Candise Lockett has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held March 26- April 1, the Conference announced today.

Mount Olive's sophomore from Birmingham, England, Candise Locket, also shared impressive accomplishments in her field performance this weekend at the Adidas Trojan Challenge. Lockett scored ten points for the Trojans with her win in the hammer throw to help her team win at home. Lockett threw an NCAA Provisional qualifying mark of 55.87m (183' 4") just five meters shy of the auto mark (60.45m). With this mark, Lockett sits comfortably atop the conference standings for women's hammer throw this outdoor season.


North Greenville's Wilder Named Week 2 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.North Greenville University's Shekinah Wilder has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for meets held March 19-25, the Conference announced today.

North Greenville's senior, Shekinah Wilder, dominated the jumps at the CIU Invitational. Wilder took home two first-place finishes and two school records in the women's triple jump and long jump. In the triple jump, Wilder won the meet with an impressive leap of 12.02 meters (39' 5.25") and also secured a win in the long jump with a mark of 5.52 meters (18' 1.5"). With both of these outstanding performances, Wilder sits atop the conference charts in the events.


Barton's Cunningham Named Week 1 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Janae Cunningham has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held March 12-18, the Conference announced today.

Barton's junior, Janae Cunningham, dominated the throws events this past Saturday at the Mary Washington Opener with three top three finishes in the hammer throw, shot put, and discuss. With marks of 129' 7" and 35' 1", Cunningham took second-place in both the women's hammer throw and shot put, respectively. Cunningham also placed third in the women's discus with a mark of 101' 7" and fourth in the javelin with a mark of 95' 9".


OUTDOOR SEASON


 

High Point, N.C. – Converse College’s Ashly Sutherland has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Player of the Week during week three of the 2014 - 2015 Indoor Track & Field season. Sutherland posted a Conference Carolinas best 800m time at the Winston-Salem State Open running the event in 2:17.07 missing the NCAA DII Provisional time by just over a second. The Cowpens, S.C. native leads the Conference Carolinas in the mile event running a school record 5:09.80 finishing fifth overall at the Bob Pollock Invitational against a majority DI field. Sutherland is ranked 15th among DII athletes in the 800m and 37th overall in the mile.
