Southern Wesleyan's Beugre Named Week 5 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan University's Michele Beugre has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held April 9 - 15, the Conference announced today.

Beugre, a freshman from Powder Springs, Ga., had a series of standout performances on the track at the Gamecock Invitational this weekend, hitting two NCAA Provisional qualifying times in both the 200 meter dash and 4x100 meter relay. Beugre ran a 24.27 in the 200 meter dash, finishing 21st, and 46.21 in the 4x100 meter relay, finishing seventh. Beugre is nationally ranked 13th in the 200 meter dash and ninth in the 4x100 meter relay, while also holding number one spots in both events across the league.


Mount Olive's Hanle Named Week 4 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held April 2 - 8, the Conference announced today.

Hanle, the reining track athlete of the week, had another strong performance at the 54th Annual Colonial Relays this weekend in Williamsburg, Va. Hanle ran an NCAA Automatic qualifying time in the 10,000m to mark her third this season with a time of 34:09.11, beating her own personal record in the event and finishing first in a competitive field.


Mount Olive's Hanle Named Week 3 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held March 26 - April 1, the Conference announced today.

Hanle, the junior from Lichtenstein, Germany, had a phenomenal weekend at the track. At Raleigh Relays, Hanle secured an NCAA Automatic qualifier in the 5000m with a time of 16:02.46. Then, less than twenty-four hours later on her home training grounds, Hanle helped the Mount Olive team win the Adidas Trojan Challenge at home with a first place finish in the steeplechase. Hanle won the event with a time of 10:37.00 to punch another NCAA Provisional qualifying standard. 


North Greenville's Shore Named Week 2 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's Madisun Shore has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held March 19-25, the Conference announced today.

Shore, a freshman standout for the Crusaders, made school history this weekend at the CIU Invitational. Shore set a new school record in the 800 meters with an impressive time of 2:25.85 and was fast enough to earn her second place in the event at the meet. 


 Mount Olive's Ritter Named Week 1 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Celine Ritter has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, respectively, for meets held March 12-18, the Conference announced today.

Ritter, a sophomore from Roesrath, Germany, moved into third place all-time in the UMO record books in the 5000m while taking second in the event this past weekend at the Shamrock Invitational.  Her time of 17:47.73, leads both the conference.  


OUTDOOR SEASON


 

High Point, N.C. – Converse College’s Ashly Sutherland has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Player of the Week during week three of the 2014 - 2015 Indoor Track & Field season. Sutherland posted a Conference Carolinas best 800m time at the Winston-Salem State Open running the event in 2:17.07 missing the NCAA DII Provisional time by just over a second. The Cowpens, S.C. native leads the Conference Carolinas in the mile event running a school record 5:09.80 finishing fifth overall at the Bob Pollock Invitational against a majority DI field. Sutherland is ranked 15th among DII athletes in the 800m and 37th overall in the mile.
