Pfeiffer's Hope A Possible Top Five Selection in September's NLL Draft
MISENHEIMER, NC – Last season Bob Hope was named the Pfeiffer men’s lacrosse MVP. Now, he has his eyes set on the professional ranks. The 2014 NLL Draft will be held on Sept. 22 and the first mock draft was posted on nll.com. Hope, an attackmen for the Falcons and Peterborough native, is listed as going to the Minnesota Swarm with the fifth pick in the draft.

It quite literally came down to who scored last as No. 2 Limestone (16-2, 6-0 CC) could not withstand a late rally from No. 1 Mercyhurst (18-0, 7-0 ECAC) which recovered from a two-goal deficit in the final minute of regulation before earning an 18-17 victory on Saturday, May 18 that sends them to the NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse National Championship Game.

Conference Carolinas MLAX teams wrapped-up conference regular season play tonight as Limestone clinched the conference regular season title. With the conclusion of regular season play today, final pairings for next weeks upcoming conference tournament are complete with the top four teams advancing into tournament play. The men kick-off semifinal action Friday followed by the women starting on Saturday and both playing their championships matches on Sunday. The Dolphins keep chugging right along. Despite owning the same 7-0 record as Mercyhurst -- the team Le Moyne was tied with last week at No. 1 -- Dan Sheehan's troops were able to break free of the Lakers and stake sole claim to the first chair this week. Le Moyne will be able to strengthen -- or perhaps lose -- its grip on the top spot when it plays No. 5 Merrimack on Tuesday.

Haire, Zach Sawin and four other friends, all former Lake Mary athletes home from college for winter break, were riding around Lake Mary on the night of Dec. 15. They were looking for another friend's house when the GPS led them astray.

Belmont Abbey men’s lacrosse coach Jim Dietsch has announced his retirement, effective June 30, after 38 years of coaching, teaching and mentoring young people of all ages from middle school to college levels. Dietsch spent the last four years as head coach at Belmont Abbey, leading the Crusaders to the Conference Carolinas title in 2008, in just the third year of the program’s history and his first on the Abbey sideline.

LAURINBURG, N.C.—The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has honored St. Andrews Presbyterian College graduate Ethan Young with a plaque in recognition of the statistical title he won for ground balls per game in his senior season with the Knights men’s lacrosse team.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte graduated senior Stephan LeBlanc (Restoule, Ontario, Highland) has been named the NCAA statistical champion for the 2008-2009 season for total points per game. LeBlanc averaged 5.43 points per game this season.

BALTIMORE, MD -- Senior attackman Brendan Storrier (LaFayette, N.Y.) has been named to the USILA Division I/II Senior All-Star Game, where he will represent the South. Storrier is one of twelve DII players invited to participate in the All-Star festivities.

USILA All America Lacrosse teams for Division II Announced
The USILA is proud to announce its selections for the Division II All America teams, which are selected by the coaches. Finalists C.W. Post and Le Moyne combined to earn seven first-team nods, with Post gathering four and the Dolphins taking three. The USILA Awards will be announced all week on InsideLacrosse.com, with the Division III All America teams on Tuesday, Division II and Division III Special Awards on Wednesday, Division I All America teams on Thursday and Division I Special Awards on Friday, preceding the North-South game in Boston.

LIMESTONE MEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO C.W. POST IN NCAA DII FINAL FOUR
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Senior attacker Greg Cerar (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) registered a game-high six points as No. 2 C.W. Post defeated No. 6 Limestone College, 12-9, in the NCAA Division II Men’s Lacrosse Semifinal Saturday afternoon on Hickox Field. The Pioneers will advance to face LeMoyne College for the national championship at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on May 24.

Limestone Wins MLAX Conference Tournament; All-Tournament Teams Announced
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- In the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship the 2009 regular season co-champions met for the second time of the season. For the second time of the season, the Limestone Saints came away with the victory and claimed the 2009 Tournament Championship by a score of 12-10. Just as the final score was close, the battle on the field was just as close.

High Point, NC- Limestone College was chosen by league head coaches as the preseason favorite in Conference Carolinas. The Saints are coming off a 2008 season that included a 12-2, (5-0 conference) record and an NCAA Division II semifinal appearance. Head Coach Mike Cerino and his squad will look to build on the success of 2008 and earn a tenth consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Lacrosse Magazine Releases DII National Men's & Women's Rankings; Limestone & Belmont Abbey Highlight Both Polls
BALTIMORE -- Seven of the 11 teams that won college lacrosse national championships in 2008 have been picked to repeat as title-winners in 2009 in Lacrosse Magazine's annual preseason college rankings, released today. The magazine also named its Preseason Player of the Year in each division of play.

Saint defender Matt Pinder (Centreville, Md.) was named to the First Team, as attackman Brendan Storrier (LaFayette, N.Y.) and midfielder Justin Haworth (Deer Park, N.Y.) garnered Second Team honors.

Thomasville, N.C. > Conference Carolinas announced the men’s lacrosse all-tournament team today. The Conference Carolinas men’s lacrosse tournament was played two weekends ago at host Limestone College. The championship game was decided in the final seconds in dramatic fashion as Belmont Abbey defeated Limestone 11-10 to take the title. The all-tournament teams were decided by league head coaches of participating institutions. Nominations were collected and then voted upon and tallied to determine the all-tournament team.

GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The Belmont Abbey Crusaders shocked the No. 3-ranked Limestone College Saints in the Conference Carolinas Championship final as the Abbey's Michael Brown (West Hartford, Conn.) scored with 11 seconds left to lift his team to the 11-10 victory. Today marks the first time since 1999 that Limestone (12-1 overall) has not won its conference tournament title. Belmont Abbey, making its first appearance in the conference men’s lacrosse final game, improves to 9-4 on the season.

After building the men's program from scratch beginning in 1990, the name Mike Cerino has become synonymous with Limestone Lacrosse. In 11 seasons with the Saints, Cerino built the South Carolina school into a DII power, culminating with a national championship in his final season (2000). Cerino makes his return to Limestone following five seasons at Washington & Lee, where he was named ODAC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2004.
