MISENHEIMER, N.C. - This Saturday is a date for Pfeiffer athletics that has been circled on the calendar for a long time. The Pfeiffer men's volleyball squad opens its season with a home game against a true NCAA Division I opponent in Ball State. Saturday's game has been designated as a "blackout" day, with all Pfeiffer fans asked to wear black to both the men's volleyball game and the basketball games later in the day with Belmont Abbey.

Barton Athletics Announces New Men's & Women's Volleyball Coach
WILSON, NC – Long-time Cardinal Gibbons High School volleyball coach Jim Freeman, who led the Crusaders to a phenomenal 10 N.C. High School Athletic Association state championships in the past 12 years, has been hired as Barton College’s volleyball coach. Barton Director of Athletics Gary W. Hall announced that Freeman, who was an assistant coach with the Duke University women’s volleyball team this past fall, will take over the women’s program at Barton and begin recruitment of the new men’s team, which will open play the fall of 2011.

Pfeiffer Men's Volleyball Team and Libero Mark Hess Finish Year as #1 in Digs Per Game
MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University finished the 2010 inaugural season in men’s volleyball as the division one statistical champion in digs per game. Individually, freshman libero Mark Hess finished as the statistical champ in the same category. NCAA men’s volleyball has only division one and division three. Pfeiffer competed against top schools like Penn State, Stanford and Southern California in these categories.

Mount Olive Baseball & Men's Volleyball Win NCAA National Statistics Championships
The Mount Olive College baseball and men's volleyball teams finished first in the nation in a number of statistical categories in 2010 and will be awarded NCAA Statistical National Championship Trophies. In baseball, the Trojans finished first in the nation in three team categories: batting average, scoring and slugging percentage. The Trojan men's volleyball team ranked first in the nation in aces and won-lost percentage. Jose Lanier claimed an individual stats championship for leading the nation in service aces.

High Point, NC> Conference Carolinas welcomes the worldwide growing game of men’s volleyball as a new conference sport for the 2010 season. While all league members currently sponsor women’s volleyball teams, this is the first year that enough schools are sponsoring teams for men’s volleyball to become a qualified conference emerging sport.

High Point, NC> Conference Carolinas will introduce men’s volleyball as a new conference emerging sport for the 2010 spring season. The league will be the first and only comprised of just NCAA DII institutions, as well as the first and only league under an actual NCAA supported conference. Conference Carolinas becomes a pioneer in influencing the future of the men’s volleyball national championships.
