HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's Kate Lee was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while Lees-McRae College's Kara Cunningham was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 12-18, the Conference announced today.
Lee, a junior from Gilbert, S.C., posted a .333 batting average with four hits, including one triple and one home run, and four RBI to pace the Crusaders to a 3-1 record last week. Her best performance came in NGU's 7-1 victory over No. 20 Carson-Newman, as she went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI.
Lee currently ranks third in Conference Carolinas in both triples (1) and home runs (1).
A junior from Indian Trail, N.C., Cunningham went 2-2 in the circle in 23 innings of work. She posted a 2.13 ERA with 22 strikeouts, while also batting .238 with a double and one RBI at the plate.
Cunningham ranks first in Conference Carolinas with 35 strikeouts.
