Barton's Onega and Erskine's Houge Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Jessica Onega was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while Erskine College's Hannah Houge was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 11-17, the Conference announced today.

Onega, a senior from Belle Glade, Fla., put on a hitting clinic and led Barton to a 5-1 record, including 3-1 in Conference Carolinas play. Onega hit .650 with 13 hits, including a double, with nine RBI and seven runs scored. Onega's best performance came in a 15-2 game one win over Elizabeth City St., going 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Houge, a sophomore from Boiling Springs, S.C., posted a 3-0 record and 0.00 ERA for the Fleet last week. In 19 innings of pitching, Houge let up seven hits and issued five walks, while letting up no runs and registering 25 strikeouts.

Payton Whitley (Belmont Abbey) - Batted .375 with six hits and two RBI in six games.
Katie Robinson (Lees-McRae) - Batted .500 with 13 hits and 12 RBI in eight games.
Taylor Koon (North Greenville) - Batted .381 with eight hits and four RBI in six games.
Callie Ferrell (Mount Olive) - Batted .421 with eight hits and six RBI in six games.
Kat Tate (Limestone) - Batted .643 with nine hits and five RBI in six games.
Ellison Garren (Erskine) - Batted .571 with eight hits and eight RBI in six games.
Casey Gilbert (King) - Batted .389 with seven hits and two RBI in six games, while going 1-0 with 13 innings pitched with eight strikeouts and 1.62 ERA in three appearances.

Kara Cunningham (Lees-McRae) - 2-2 record with 30 innings pitched with 24 strikeouts and 3.50 ERA in five appearances.
Rachel Farmer (King) - 2-0 record with 14 innings pitched with six strikeouts and 2.50 ERA in three appearances.
Callie Richards (North Greenville) - 2-1 record with 19 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts and 0.74 ERA in three appearances.
Caroline Ruth (Limestone) - 2-1 record with 21 innings pitched with 18 strikeouts and 2.33 ERA in four appearances.
Mallory Ratcliff (Mount Olive) - 3-0 record with 21 innings pitched with 23 strikeouts and 0.33 ERA in three appearances.
Sierra Hearp (Barton) - 2-0 record with 10 innings pitched with five strikeouts and 2.80 ERA in three appearances, while batting .412 with seven hits and six RBI in five games
