Mount Olive Women’s Golf Student-Athlete Emelie Andersson Selected For Prestigious Research Program
Mount Olive College student athlete Emelie Andersson has been accepted in the Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The SPUR program offers practical experience to undergraduates in the field of science, allowing them to work with fellow students and staff on important current scientific research problems. The program is scheduled from May 30 to August 3.

Women's Golf: MOC's Urquiola Ties For 19th At NCAA II South Super Regional
PACE, FLA. - Valentina Urquiola jumped 23 spots in two days and tied for 19th out of 48 golfers at the South Super Regional of the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, which concluded Tuesday at Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Fla. Making the first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance by any Mount Olive women's golfer, Urquiola carded an 84-74-73--231 to break a Trojan 54-hole score and tie her own 18-hole school record. Her final-round 73 tied for the fourth lowest score of the day.

Mount Olive's Urquiola to Represent ConfCarolinas at NCAA DII Women's Golf South Super Regional
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Mount Olive College golfer Valentina Urquiola is one of only 16 individuals nationwide to earn a bid to the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, becoming the first women's golfer in school history to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Urquiola will compete in the South Super Regional Sunday-Tuesday at Stonebrook Golf Course in Pace, Fla. The 54-hole Super Regional is hosted by University of West Florida.

Women’s Golf Coaches Pick Queens as Preseason Favorite

The Royals are looking to grab the league title this year after coming off of a spectacular fall season. Four seniors- Camilla Mallberg, Mallory Ruhling, Louise Sjoberg and Julia Wennerlung- are leading the team this season.

Limestone College Names Nick Biershenk Head Golf Coach

Limestone College Announces Change in Golf Programs
GAFFNEY, S.C. – Limestone College Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Cerino announced today that a national search for a full-time coach for the men’s and women’s golf programs has been launched. The selected coach will replace Doc Lemmons who has led the programs since 2003. Chris Wiley has been named the interim coach for both programs.

Queens names Sam Puryear Director of Golf Operations
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (July 13, 2011) – Queens University of Charlotte and its Department of Athletics are pleased to announce the hiring of Sam Puryear as the newest director of golf operations for the university. Puryear joins Queens after serving as Michigan State University’s head men’s golf coach since the start of the 2007-2008 season.

Valkyries Add Golf For 2012; McGetrick Hired as Head Coach
SPARTANBURG, SC- Converse College announces the addition of a golf program to the college’s roster of NCAA Division II sports. The program will be led by former LPGA golf professional Sara Anne McGetrick, who joins the Valkyries as head golf coach this summer. The inaugural team will begin competing in fall 2012.

Belmont Abbey head men's and women's golf coach Jim Haughey has stepped down from his position, effective immediately. A national search for the position will begin immediately. Haughey guided the women's program from its inception in 2005 and took over the men's program in September, 2006, quickly moving both programs to national prominence at the Division II level.

Queens mourns the loss of Marjorie Whitney
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte is saddened by the loss of Marjorie Whitney, a freshman member of the womens golf team. Whitney was tragically involved in a fatal automobile accident early Tuesday morning, Jan. 5, 2010. Marjorie was driving on Carolina Beach Road in her hometown of Wilmington, N.C., when she struck another vehicle. She died from her injuries.

Belmont Abbey & Pfeiffer Women's Golf Finish Strong in NCAA Regionals; PU's Ried Advances to Nationals as Individual
Belmont Abbey & Pfeiffer women's golf teams finished their seasons out strong by representing themselves well in the NCAA Regional Championships. As the first teams in conference history to qualify for the women's golf NCAA Championships, Belmont Abbey finished just one spot from qualifying for the National Championship with a fourth place finish. Pfeiffer ended-up three spots back of the Abbey with a seventh place finish but will have an individual qualifier, Charlene Reid advancing to the national championship.

Pfeiffer Women Barton Men Claim Conference Carolina Men's and Women's Golf Titles; Abbey's Warrington, Limestone's Scruggs Win Individual Titles; All-Tourney Teams Announced
The Barton men and the Pfeiffer women claimed the 2009 Conference Carolinas and women's golf championships, hosted by Belmont Abbey College at the Tanglewood Park Championship course. Barton won by two shots over Coker, while Pfeiffer won by nine shots over Belmont Abbey College. Belmont Abbey junior Carley Warrington and Limestone's Kyle Scruggs won the individual titles. Warring won by two strokes, while Scruggs posted a 216 to win by one shot.

Conference Carolinas All-Conference Golf Teams Announced!
High Point, N.C. > The Conference Carolinas All-Conference Teams were determined by vote from each Head Coach of participating league institutions. Nominations were collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team, All-Conference Second Team and All-Conference Third Team. Awards were presented at the league golf team banquet at the Conference Tournament Championships co-hosted by Belmont Abbey College and the Tanglewood Park Championship Golf Course in Clemons, NC.
