Anderson's Amanda Edwards Named Women's Volleyball
Player of the Week for Second Time this Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  Tuesday, October 30, 2007

Thomasville, N.C.> Anderson University's Amanda Edwards (17-16 overall, 12-5 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's volleyball Player of the Week during week number nine in the 2007 season. This is the second time this year that Edwards, a junior from Azle, Texas, has received the award. Edwards tied a career high with 23 kills against Belmont Abbey on Oct. 24. She averaged 5.42 kills per game last week and had a hitting percentage of .506 to lead Anderson to victories over Belmont Abbey and Pfeiffer. Entering the final week of the regular season, Anderson has won five of its last six matches.

Lees-McRae's Kyle McGimsey Named Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Thomasville, N.C.> Lees-McRae College's Kyle McGimsey (16-1-1 overall, 9-1 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's soccer Player of the Week during the final week in the 2007 season.   McGimsey, a junior midfielder from Plant City, FL opened the scoring for the Bobcats with his fifth goal of the season in the 30th minute against Belmont Abbey College on Wednesday.  After holding the 1-0 cushion after halftime, McGimsey would bury his second goal of the game and sixth of the season in the 53rd minute to lead the Bobcats in the 2-0 victory.  McGimsey would go on to add his third goal of the week and seventh of the season in an 11-0 rout of Chowan on Saturday.  McGimsey and the #2 nationally ranked Bobcats open play tonight in the Conference Carolinas Soccer Tournament Championships.  First round games of the tournament will be played at higher seeded sites, before semifinal and championship games move to host Mount Olive College on Friday and Sunday.

Queens Hayley Pasko Named Women's Soccer Player of the Week

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  Tuesday, October 30, 2007

Thomasville, N.C.> Queens University of Charlotte's Hayley Pasko (7-10-1 overall, 6-4-1 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's soccer Player of the Week during the final week in the 2007 season. Pasko made good use of her last home game at Queens by scoring two goals and providing one assist. This was Pasko's fourth consecutive game earning points for the Royals. The senior midfielder from Sterling, VA scored against Erskine, Converse, and Anderson and notched an assist against Pfeiffer. Pasko is second on the team in goals (6), assists (6) points (18), and shots (40) for the season. Pasko and the Royals travel to Barton to open Conference Carolinas Soccer Tournament Championship play on Wednesday. All first round games of the tournament will be played at higher seeded sites, before semifinal and championship games move to host Mount Olive College on Friday and Sunday.
