Conference Carolinas soccer teams wrapped-up regular season play tonight and clinched conference regular season division titles. On the women’s side, Lees-McRae won the West Division while Mount Olive was tops in the East Division. For the men, Lees-McRae also won the West Division with Coker claiming the East Division title. Belmont Abbey Tops Women’s Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll
High Point, NC> The Belmont Abbey College women’s soccer team has been picked to win the Conference Carolinas title for the seventh-straight year as it welcomes in new coach Mike Lynch. Lynch will benefit from the return of five All-Conference standouts from last season’s team where the Crusaders went unbeaten in their first 14 matches (with 12 wins) and ascended to as high as 17th in the national rankings and first in the NCAA Southeast Regional rankings.

Limestone women’s soccer had a very good season, and is now being recognized for the team’s discipline, fair play and sporting behavior on the field with the National Soccer Coaches Association Team Ethics Award.

North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association 2009 All-State Women’s Soccer Team (College Division) Announced!
Raleigh, N.C. – Eleven student-athletes representing seven institutions were selected to the seventh annual North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State women’s soccer team. Senior goal keeper Suzie Hinman from the Pfeiffer University was the only unanimous pick. Alex Calvert of Meredith College was the only returning member to this year’s team earning her third spot on the top of the midfielder position.

LIMESTONE SOCCER TEAMS EARN NSCAA COLLEGE TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD
The Limestone College men’s and women’s soccer team was awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2008-09, as announced by the NSCAA this week. The Lady Saints posted a 3.14 team grade point average last year to garner this honor. The Saints posted a team grade point average of 3.20 last year to earn the award. This is the second straight year the Limestone men has received this recognition, and the Saints are the only team in region to make the list this year.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − The 2009 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Women’s Soccer Teams were released Tuesday afternoon. Five members of this year’s teams were members of the 2008 teams, including this year’s Region Player of the Year Kristin Burton of Armstrong Atlantic State University. Melissa Morris of Carson-Newman College joins Burton on the first team again and Catherine Hauck of Lenoir-Rhyne University moves from the second team a year ago to the first team.

Belmont Abbey Wins CVAC WSoc. Championship; All-Tournament Team Announced
MOUNT OLIVE, NC - Belmont Abbey junior midfielder Lauren Strebler scored the only goal of the match in the 24th minute, off of an assist from junior forward Erin Kolb, as the Abbey women’s soccer team won its second-straight CVAC title, and its third in the last four years with a 1-0 win over top-seeded Queens University this afternoon.

Mooresville, NC --- Beginning in 2007-08, the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference will become Conference Carolinas, and to help commemorate the new era for the conference, All-Time Teams will be selected for each of the conference's 14 championship sports. In conjunction with the 2006 CVAC Soccer Championships, a 14-member Women’s Soccer All-Time CVAC Team and 10-member Men’s Soccer All-Time Team has been announced.

Limestone Women's Soccer Team Holds Successful Youth Soccer Clinic
The Limestone College Lady Saints soccer team held a youth soccer clinic in correlation with the Kirby Memorial Baptist Church and the Gaffney Boys and Girls Club. Over 100 children, ages 4-12, participated in the clinic. Each of Limestone’s women’s soccer players were assigned three to four children to work with.

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Mount Olive has named former Trojan men’s soccer player Reid Clewis as assistant women’s soccer coach, it was announced Friday by head coach Chris Shaw. A two-time All-Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference selection, Clewis completed his playing career last fall.

Chad Miller Resigns as Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Pfeiffer University
Chad Miller Pfeiffer Universities Head Women’s Soccer Coach resigned Monday to take a position as assistant coach at Western Carolina University. Miller earned a degree in Sports Medicine and a minor in Coaching from Pfeiffer. As both an Alumnus of the University and a former member of the Falcon soccer team, Chad has been dedicated the past seven years to the continued success of soccer at Pfeiffer University.

Erskine Women`s Soccer Receives Team Ethics Award of Merit
DUE WEST, SC?The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has awarded the Erskine College women?s soccer team with the Team Ethics Award of Merit Bronze Certificate for the fall 2005 season. In order to be eligible for this award, a team must receive between only 6-10 yellow or red cards during seasonal play. Gold and Silver awards are offered for fewer than 6 cards in a season. Erskine only received 9 cards during the 2005 season.

BELMONT, NC ? Belmont Abbey scored in the first half and used strong defending to defeat Mt. Olive 1-0 and claim the CVAC Women?s Soccer Championship Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders finish the season with a record of 18-4 and wait now to see if they will be awarded a bid to the NCAA Regionals next week.

Barton Women?s Soccer Team Roars Into National Top 10!
WILSON, NC ? The Barton College women?s soccer team, riding high on a school-record nine-match win streak, now has something else to celebrate. The Lady Bulldogs of third-year head coach Stacey Radford Tant, now 11-1 overall and 7-0 (first) in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference, went from unranked to No. 10 in the nation Tuesday when the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas NCAA D-II weekly poll was released. Barton, on the strength of a 2-0 win over regionally No. 5-ranked UNC Pembroke and a 1-0 home win against Converse last week, rose from No. 4 in the Southeast poll to a first-place tie with Catawba (10-2).
