TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Erskine's Gennaoui Named Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Thomasville, N.C.> Erskine College's Jennifer Gennaoui (16-3 overall, 9-0 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's tennis Player of the Week during week number nine in the 2008 season. Jennifer Gennaoui continued her great season this week by dominating four opponents at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles positions. The Erskine senior is undefeated in conference play in singles (9-0) and doubles (9-0) in helping lead the No. 33 nationally ranked Fleet for the year. This week in two conference matches, Gennaoui defeated Anderson's Ahevchenko (6-1, 6-0) and Pfeiffer's Dominguez (6-1, 6-2). In two non-league games, Gennaoui defeated Lander's Oliveriro (6-0, 6-1) and Presbyterian's Lanford (6-2, 6-4). In doubles, Gennaoui teamed up with junior Kacie Knox to go 4-0 for the week. Gennaoui/Knox defeated Anderson's Ahevchenko/Beal (8-3), Lander's Pajunen/Zaia (8-4), Presbyterian's Diminich/Lanford (8-6) and Pfeiffer's Bobrowski/Smith (8-1). During her playing career the returning two-time conference player of the year has lead her team to a conference winning streak that now stretches over 4 years resulting in 47 straight conference wins.

Lees-McRae's Solymosi Named Men's Tennis Player of the Week

Thomasville, N.C.> Lees-McRae College's Nandor Solymosi (12-11 overall, 6-3 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's tennis Player of the Week during week number nine in the 2008 season. A true freshman, Nandor Solymosi helped lead his team to a 3-0 record this week. Solymosi, who plays No. 1 for the Bobcats in both singles and doubles, was undefeated in both this week. In singles Solymosi won 6-2, 6-1 over Wingate's Mitchell Lvovsky. Then the freshman routed out beat Barton's Scott Reddick 6-1, 6-1. Solymosi gained his third win of the week, and fourth straight win at No. 1 singles, when he outscored Pfeiffer's Philip Lawson 6-4, 6-1. In doubles action Solymosi teamed up with Alek Mojski taking an 8-5 win over Valarezo/Patchell of Wingate University on Wednesday. On Saturday the duo beat Barton College's Reddick/Grobel 8-6, then outlasted de Wit/Lawson of Pfeiffer University in a 9-7 contest Sunday afternoon. Solymosi, playing with Mojski and another match with Paul Muenow has won four consecutive doubles matches.
