Volleyball All-Time All-CVAC Teams Announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Heidi Busch of Mount Olive College and Tatianna Moore of Lees-McRae College were unanimous selections as the All-Time Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Volleyball Team was announced Thursday during the awards ceremonies at the 2006 CVAC Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Converse College. The two were among 14 players selected to the All-Time Team, which encompasses the "CVAC era" from 1995-96 through 2006-07.

Lees-McRae, which enters this year's tournament as eight-time defending champion, led the way with five selections, including two active players. Barton College had three selections, while Mount Olive had two honorees. Anderson University, Belmont Abbey College, Queens University of Charlotte and former CVAC member High Point University each placed one player on the All-Time Team.

Moore (2001-04) was a four-time All-CVAC selection and was the 2003 CVAC Player of the Year. Lenka Jamrichova (2001-04) was also a four-time All-CVAC selection and was named CVAC Player of the Year in 2004. Jen Calderwood (1999-2000) played only two years at Lees-McRae, but was named CVAC Player of the Year both years.

Lees-McRae seniors Amanda Huffaker (2003-06) and Lacie Smith (2003-06) were also selected to the All-Time Team. Huffaker is a three-time All-CVAC selection, while Smith earned All-CVAC honors in each of her four years, including CVAC Player of the Year this year.

Barton was represented by Jennifer Mills (1995-98), who was a three-time All-CVAC first team selection. Shemkia Reid (1998-2001) led the nation in blocks her senior year and was a two-time All-CVAC selection, as well as CVAC Female Athlete of the Year for 2001-02. Senior Keauna Vinson (2003-06) finished up her collegiate career this season as a four-time All-CVAC selection and was the 2005-06 CVAC Female Athlete of the Year.

Busch (2002-05), a three-time All-American and a four-time All-CVAC first team selection at Mount Olive, finished her career as the CVAC's all-time career kills leader and fifth on the NCAA Division II career kills list. Trojan senior Anna-Marie Luft (2003-06) earned All-CVAC first team honors for the third consecutive year and was CVAC Freshman of the Year in 2003.

Leslie Nodine (1998-2001) of Anderson was a three-time All-CVAC selection and was named CVAC Player of the Year in 2001. Belmont Abbey's Sarah Halligan (2002-05), who led the nation in aces per game in her senior year, was a three-time All-CVAC honoree and the 2005 CVAC Player of the Year.

Lori Kuykendall (1995-96) earned first team honors in each of High Point's final two years in the CVAC and was named MVP of the 1996 CVAC Tournament. Suzanne McReynolds (1995-97) of Queens was a two-time All-CVAC selection and was named Player of the Year in 1997.

Nominations for the All-Time Team were submitted by and voted on by conference schools. All-Time Teams are being selected for each conference sport throughout the year and are being announced at each sport's conference championship. The All-Time Teams are being announced as the CVAC makes the transition to its new name, Conference Carolinas, which takes effect in June.
