High Point, N.C.> Conference Carolinas fall sport championships kickoff this Friday with the start of the women's & men's cross country championships. Teams regular seasons come to an end with the championship culmination as conference tournament titles will be back on the line. The fall conference championships start with cross country this weekend followed by men’s and women’s soccer tournaments starting October, 31st and the women’s volleyball tournament starting November 8th.

Conference Carolinas Announces Scheduling and Divisional Changes for 2011-12 Playing Seasons
High Point, N.C.> Conference Carolinas announces new scheduling and divisional changes that will start for the upcoming 2011-12 playing seasons. With the recent official new member additions of King College and North Greenville University (June 1st 2011), individual schedules had to change in order to incorporate the scope of conference schedules with the growth from 11 to 13 teams that will now be competing in the league.

WILSON, NC – Long-time Cardinal Gibbons High School volleyball coach Jim Freeman, who led the Crusaders to a phenomenal 10 N.C. High School Athletic Association state championships in the past 12 years, has been hired as Barton College’s volleyball coach. Barton Director of Athletics Gary W. Hall announced that Freeman, who was an assistant coach with the Duke University women’s volleyball team this past fall, will take over the women’s program at Barton and begin recruitment of the new men’s team, which will open play the fall of 2011.

After all was said and done, the Lady Falcons will be submitting a donation of $908.80 to the “Dig Pink” campaign on behalf of Pfeiffer University volleyball.

The rankings include the top 10 teams in each of the eight regions, with records through November 8. Cole Tallman Coaches 1,000th Career Match for Mount Olive Women's Volleyball
Mount Olive College made head coach a winner in his 1,000th career match with a 25-13, 22-25, 25-20, 25-22 victory over Elizabeth City State in non-conference womens volleyball Thursday at Kornegay Arena. Coker Volleyball Gives Back to Community with Free Clinic
Hartsville, S.C. For most teams the preseason is a time of two or three-a-day practices, conditioning runs, team bonding and various other activities to get prepared for the upcoming season. The Coker College volleyball team is no exception, but when Head Coach Jon Stenman received a call from Coker alum, Kathy Harsh Cunningham, asking for some old game film to show her young players in Georgetown, S.C. how volleyball is supposed to be played, Coach Stenman decided he would take it a step further. Along with his entire team in the middle of their first week of preseason, the Coker Lady Cobras traveled to Georgetown High School to put on a free volleyball clinic for local players.

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. Mount Olive womens volleyball player Sam Mitchell was one of 58 fall sports student-athletes all NCAA Divisions to be awarded a 2007-08 Fall Sports NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, it was announced this week. Mitchell was selected alongside student-athletes from schools such as Stanford, North Carolina State, Notre Dame and UCLA. A total of 29 females and 29 males were each awarded a $7,500 scholarship to go towards graduate studies. Recipients were chosen based on excellence in academics, athletics and community service.

Outside hitter Sam Mitchell earned 2007 AVCA Division II Womens Volleyball All-America Honorable Mention, as selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Mitchell, the 2007 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, becomes the second volleyball player in school history to win All-America honors.

2007 AVCA All-Region Teams Announced for NCAA Division II
The 2007 AVCA All-Region Teams were announced from the NCAA Division II on Tuesday. Conference Carolinas was well represented as four individuals were honored. Two members were selected to the Atlantic region team while two more named to the honorable mention team.

NCAA Announces Volleyball Championship Field; Lees-McRae Receives No. 7 Seed and will play No. 2 Clarion at Host Calf. PA
The NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee announced the field of 64 teams for the 2007 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals, November 29-December 1, which will be played on the campus of a participating institution.

MOC Trojans Place Two On Daktronics VB All-Atlantic Region Team
Sam Mitchell was named to the first team and Racey Bartley was selected to the second team as Mount Olive placed two players on the 2007 Daktronics Division II All-Atlantic Region Womens Volleyball Team, it was announced Tuesday. Mitchell earned All-Region honors for the third year in a row, while Bartley is making her first appearance. Mitchell, the 2007 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, is eligible for All-America honors.

Lady Bobcats VB Falls to Cal. (PA) at NCAA Tourney
The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats volleyball team traveled to Lock Haven University for the NCAA Atlantic Regional, falling in the first round to California University of Pennsylvania in a hard fought five game match, 30-24, 28-30, 33-31, 15-30, 6-15. The Lady Bobcats finish 2006 with a 29-8 record.

Spartanburg, SC --- The top seeded Lees-McRae Bobcats won their 9th straight CVAC Tournament Championship this afternoon. The Bobcats defeated the Limestone Saints 3-1 (20-30, 30-21, 30-24, 30-28). With the loss, Limestone finishes the season 25-9. With the win, Lees-McRae earns the CVAC automatic bid into the 2006 NCAA National Volleyball Championship Tournament.

Heidi Busch of Mount Olive College and Tatianna Moore of Lees-McRae College were unanimous selections as the All-Time Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Volleyball Team was announced Thursday during the awards ceremonies at the 2006 CVAC Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Converse College. Lees-McRae #1 in Coaches Preseason Volleyball Poll; CVAC Announces 2006 Preseason Players to Watch
Thomasville, NC> The Lees-McRae College volleyball team class of 2006 is poised to end their collegiate careers winning their fourth straight CVAC Tournament championship. This run has led them back to the top spot in the 2006 CVAC Volleyball Pre-Season Poll as voted on by CVAC head coaches. They will be returning CVAC Tourney MVP and All-CVAC 1st team member Lacie Smith, along with All-CVAC 2nd team members Amanda Huffaker and Olivia Luce.
