HIGH POINT, N.C. – In conjunction with the Conference Carolinas spring meetings, the Conference presented the 2019-18 End of the Year Awards on Tuesday (May 21) afternoon. The awards presented were the Allan Sharp Award, Joby Hawn Cup, Messick Sportsmanship Award and newly-created Body, Mind & Soul Award.
Allan Sharp Award: Converse College was named the 2019 Allan Sharp Award winner after posting a graduation rate of 84%.
Joby Hawn Cup: University of Mount Olive captured the overall Hawn Cup with a rating of .840 and 173 points out of a possible 206. The Trojans also won the women's Hawn Cup with 91.5 points out of a possible 110 and .832 ratinf, while also notching the men's Hawn Cup with 81.5 of a possible 96 points and .849 rating.
Messick Sportsmanship Award: Belmont Abbey College was named the overall, women's and men's Messick Sportsmanship Award winners after winning seven individual sport Messick Awards during the 2018-19 season.
Body, Mind & Soul Award: The Body, Mind & Soul Award is the ultimate comprehensive conference award recognizing the member with the best average ranking when combining the Hawn Cup, Allan Sharp and Messick awards together. North Greenville University was named the inaugural winner of the Body, Mind & Soul Award after finishing second-place in both the Allan Sharp and Messick award rankings, while turning in a fourth-place finish in the Hawn Cup.
Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University.
