WINGATE, N.C. – Emmanuel College's Jake Nichols has been named the NCBWA Southeast Hitter of the Week, as selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the association announced Tuesday (Apr. 23) afternoon.
Nichols led Emmanuel to a 4-1 record last week. He hit .389 with seven hits, including six extra-base hits with five homers and one double. Nichols drove in 12 runs while scoring six times on the week. His best outing came in a 10-2 win over Anderson, going three-for-five with three homers with seven RBI.
Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University.
