HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive duo Altan Cornu and Martin Bayles have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held Jan. 24 - Jan. 28 , the Conference announced today.
Cornu made some major strides in his junior season at the Liberty Kick-Off meet this weekend in Lynchburg, Va. Cornu moved into third in the UMO record books in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:55.73. His seventh place finish earned him a top spot in the conference in his event.
The Mount Olive native Bayles also had a record-breaking day in the men's pole vault at the Liberty Kick-Off with a mark of 4.55m (14' 11") placing seventh in the event. A leading senior on the UMO track and field team, Bayles now holds the school record and sits atop the Conference Carolinas rankings in the pole vault.

Matthew Difrancesco (Belmont Abbey) - 7.13 in the 60m dash, 32nd place; 22.56 in the 200m dash, 31st place

Dominic Pautler (Belmont Abbey) - 6.52m in long jump, 17th place
Larry Russell (Barton) - 46' 1.5" in triple jump, 8th place; 23' 8.75" in long jump, 2nd place
