HIGH POINT, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte's Melvin Rubio has been named the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Men's Wrestler of the Week for meets held during the week of Feb. 4-10, the league announced today. This marks the first POTW for Rubio and second overall for Queens.
Rubio, a sophomore from Chandler, N.C., went a perfect 4-0 last week en route to winning the 125-pound weight class at the Newberry Open. Rubio would be dominant in all four matches, winning three bouts by a combined score of 33-2 and the fourth bout via fall.
