GREENVILLE, S.C. - Shanika Peterkin of Barton has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The conference office made the official announcement on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019.
A junior center out of Virginia Beach, Va., Peterkin was fantastic in Barton’s two games last week, averaging 16.5 points, 15.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game. The reigning two-time Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year also shot 43.3 percent from the field on the week.
In Barton’s 80-68 loss to Francis Marion on Nov. 13, Peterkin finished her efforts with 16 rebounds, 14 points and five blocks. In Barton’s 65-54 win over Elizabeth City State on Saturday, Nov. 16, Peterkin had 19 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Peterkin just a few games into her junior season already has 254 blocks in her career.
