2016-17 Conference Carolinas Women's Golf All-Conference and Major Awards Announced

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Converse College's Marley Felthousen headlines the 2016-17 Conference Carolinas women's golf awards as she was voted the 2016-17 Conference Carolinas Women's Golfer of the Year. Matilda Wahren of University of Mount Olive was honored as the Freshman of the Year. Limestone College's Zack Sierfert rounded out the major awards, being named the Conference Carolinas Women's Golf Coach of the Year, the conference announced tonight.

Felthousen becomes Converse's first ever Player of the Year selection after a stellar senior campaign. Felthousen produced a career best 76.95 stroke average with one individual medalist, three top-five finishes, and eight top-10 finishes. She is the first Converse golfer to be selected to the Conference Carolinas all-conference list four straight years.

WarHen a freshman from Hasselby, Sweden held the second lowest stroke average for the Trojans with a 77.53 average. She has had two top-10 finishes over seven tournaments including winning the individual championship at the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational in March.

Limestone’s Siefert has been named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year, sweeping the men’s and women’s award for the first time in his career. Siefert has guided the Saints to a conference championship sweep in each of the past seasons, and has led the Blue and Gold to six top-5 finishes on the men’s side and four top-5 finishes on the women’s side this year. Limestone men’s team won the Southern Tide Classic while the women’s team finished as the runner-up at the Barton Invitational at Kiawah. 

Felthousen is joined on the All-Conference first team buy Mount Olive's Julia Kaeding, Limestone's Elenoor Skoog, Pfeiffer's Meghan Holbrooks, and King's Fiona Hebbel.
