HIGH POINT, N.C. – Eight Conference Carolinas women's soccer players were recognized as 2017 United Soccer Coaches Scholar Team selections by the United Soccer Coaches Association recently.
Of the eight selections, three were first team, three were second team and two were third team. Belmont Abbey College and Limestone College each tallied three Scholar All-Region selections, while Chowan College and Converse College each landed one selection.
Limestone's Holly Rawcliffe and Millie Shaw were joined on the first team by Belmont Abbey's Rachel Coutinho. The second team featured two Crusaders in Nicole Ferren and Emily Lipinski, while Alex Mathis of Limestone join them. The third team was made up of Chowan's Mackenzie Imamura and Converse's Melissa Carlyle.
Coutinho, Rawcliffe and Shaw were also named to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Scholar All-America Second Team.
Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is are currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
