Mount Olive Captures 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship Title

 
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - Two second half goals allowed top-seeded Mount Olive to secure the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship title in a 2-1 victory over second-seeded Belmont Abbey in the final on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019. 

The tournament title is the first for Mount Olive women's soccer since 2004. Mount Olive ends the 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship still undefeated at 14-0-3. 
 
 
Belmont Abbey (12-5-3) collected the first goal of the game in the 42nd minute when Allyson Elliott scored. The Crusaders would hold that 1-0 lead at the halftime break. 
 
The Trojans evened things up in the match in the 65th minute when Emily Sanders scored off an Ashley Lindsay assist. 
 
The game-winning goal was scored in the 83rd minute by tournament Most Valuable Player Sara Berglund. 
 
Belmont Abbey overall out-shot Mount Olive, 17-13, in the match. The Crusaders owned a slight 3-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
