HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Dec. 6 - Dec. 10, the Conference announced today.
A junior from Lichtenstein, Germany, Hanle had an accomplished weekend at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Michigan. Competing in the 5000 meter run, Hanle broke the UMO school record and also set an NCAA DII Automatic Qualifier with a time of 16:23.52, ten seconds faster than the auto standard. Hanle placed second in the event behind a DI runner from Eastern Michigan. She defeated the cross country champion from just six days prior who finished the race in fourth. Hanle is currently the #1 runner in the nation in the 5k.
