Mount Olive's Hanle and Lockett Named Conference Carolinas Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive's duo Leah Hanle and Candise Lockett have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held Jan. 24 - Jan. 28, the Conference announced today.

Mount Olive junior Leah Hanle had an impressive weekend at the Liberty Kick-Off in Lynchburg, Va. Hanle notched a first-place finish in the women's mile with a time of 4:53:34 to set an NCAA Provisional Qualifier. Hanle holds the fastest time in the mile for Conference Carolinas for the 2018-19 indoor season. 

Sophomore teammate Candise Lockett from Birmingham, England also had a record-setting weekend at the Liberty Kick-Off in the throws. Lockett moved into second place in the UMO record books with her throw of 14.95m (49' 0.75') in the weight throw for a seventh-place finish. Lockett now holds the second-best mark in the conference for this season.

Julia Otranto (Belmont Abbey) - 2:23.95 in 800m, 10th place

Also nominated for Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week:
Cameron Davis (Belmont Abbey) - 1.53m high jump, t11th place; 4.93m long jump, 33rd place
